Kirsteen MacLeod is an award winning Canadian author of two books, the award-winning In Praise of Retreat (nonfiction), and The Animal Game (short stories). Her writing has been a finalist for awards that include the CBC Literary Award for Poetry and the CBC Literary Award for creative nonfiction, The Malahat Review’s Open Season, and Arc Poetry’s Poem of the Year.

Kirsteen's poetry, essays and short stories have appeared in literary journals such as Arc Poetry, CV2, Event, Literary Review of Canada, The Humber Literary Review, The Malahat Review, and The New Quarterly, and anthologies including Body and Soul and I Saw It at the Movies.

 

Kirsteen writes, teaches body-centred writing, and teaches movement (yoga and Feldenkrais Method 'Awareness Through Movement') in Katarokwi—Kingston, Ontario. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, she lived in Brazil for a spell and divides her time between her lakeside city and a small cabin by the river in the north woods.
